FACTS has been awarded the Dorothy Howard Prize by the American Folklore Society for our curriculum, “Liberian Storytelling: A Sixth Grade Folk Arts Integrated Unit.” The work was created by Folk Arts Education Specialist, Linda Deafenbaugh, Liberian Storyteller, Gbahtuo Comgbaye, and teacher Marley Asplundh. It is being recognized by AFS for exemplifying how folklore and folkloristic methods can enrich K-12 education, inspiring teachers and students to engage deeply with cultural traditions.
