FACTS 5K 2018 Run/Walk Info

Join us for our 3rd annual family friendly 5K Run/Walk in beautiful FDR park in South Philadelphia.  

When: October 13, 2018 @ 8:30 a.m. (On-site registration 7:40-8:15)

The FACTS 5K serves as a fundraiser for the Folk Arts-Cultural Treasures Charter School.

FACTS believes in promoting the cultural, physical and social health of our students and our surrounding community.

Not a runner? We welcome walkers! Participants have the option of completing only 1 loop (1.6 miles).
  • Every participant who registers by October 1st will receive a FACTS 5K t-shirt.
  • Every participant under age 15 will receive a participation award.
  • All racers will be entered to win great raffle prizes!
  • Medals and prizes will be awarded to the top overall male and female finishers.
  • Medals will be awarded to the top finisher in the following age groups: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+

FDR Park and 5K Course Map

 

Q: How do I get there?

A: FDR park is easily accessible by mass transit. Take the Broad Street Subway Line to AT&T Station or the route 17 bus to 20th and Pattison Avenue. Visit http://www.septa.org for schedules and fares.

Q: Is there parking?

A: Yes. FDR park has several entrances, but the only one that will be open on the morning of the race is at 20th and Pattison Avenue. Parking will be permitted in the U-shaped lot between the American Swedish Museum and the Boat House. Please be prepared to show the police officer and/or FACTS staff member on duty a FACTS 5K parking pass. One will be included in your race packet.  A FACTS staff member will have a list of all registered runners names. Parking is available on a first come, first serve basis.

Q: When and where can I pick up my race packet?

A: There will be packet pick up in advance at the Folk Arts Cultural Treasures Charter School at 1023 Callowhill Street. Packets may be picked up in person at FACT Charter School Thursday, October 12th between 7:30 am and 5:00 pm. Student packets will be distributed the week of the race. You may also pick up your packet on race day at FDR park beginning at 7:45 am.

Q: What happens after the race?

A: Snacks, awards, prizes. After all the runners and walkers have finished, at approximately 9:40 am, medals will be awarded to the fastest finishers in each age group. Participation ribbons will also be awarded to all participants under 15. We’ll also announce raffle winners during this time. Every registered runner and walker will be automatically entered for a chance to win raffle prizes. You must be present to claim your raffle prize!

Q: Can we push a stroller/ride bikes?

A: Strollers are welcome. No bikes or scooters. There will be 2 to 3 staff riding bikes providing race day security/updates.

Q: Can my dog run the race with me?

A: No. For the safety of all participants, there should not be any dogs on the course.
